Stuart Gordon (born August 11, 1947 in Chicago) is a director, writer and producer of films and plays. Most of Gordon's film work is in the horror genre, though he has also ventured into science fiction. Like his friend and fellow filmmaker Brian Yuzna, Gordon is a big fan of H. P. Lovecraft and has adapted several Lovecraft stories for the screen. They include Re-Animator (1985) , From Beyond (1986), Castle Freak (1994 - based on The Outsider), and Dagon (2001), as well as the Masters of Horror episode ‘Dreams in the Witch-House’ (2005).

Less known is that he was one of the creators of the Honey, I Shrunk The Kids film series from Disney. He also directed a film version of the David Mamet play Edmond (2005) and the recent thriller Stuck (2007).

Stuart recently directed the play Nevermore (written by Re-animator’s screenwriter Dennis Paoli and starring Jeffrey Combs) to celebrate the bicentennial of Edgar Allan Poe’s birth.
